Happy December! Can you believe that another year is almost over? Our house is one of the few in the neighborhood that isn’t covered in Christmas lights yet. In fact, I still have all my fall decorations out. I usually get the tree up Thanksgiving week, but I just haven’t gotten around to getting everything out of the attic yet. I don’t like putting all the fall stuff away, either; it’s all so pretty!
It was nice to be on vacation last week. We were at home most of the week, which was right where we needed to be. I felt so refreshed and relaxed when I walked into my office on Monday; however, I’m already looking forward to the next school break that starts on the 18th. That’s just sixteen days away (but who’s counting?).
Our church’s annual Missions Conference begins tonight and runs through Sunday. We’ll have missionaries from the U.S. and around the world join us. I’m looking forward to the services each night. You can watch the live services here Wednesday through Friday at 7:00 EST. Our church participates in faith missions giving, which basically means that individuals pray about what the Lord would have them pledge to give, by faith, to missions during the year. Our church’s goal this year was $525,000. Despite the tough economic times, that goal has already been met and surpassed. We’ll be setting a new goal for 2010 on Sunday night. It is so encouraging to see God’s people give to His work faithfully. I am always amazed at how our goal gets met each and every year without fail, but then I remember that with God all things are possible. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness!
I’m putting my Thanksgiving decorations away this evening. The pilgrims are all put into the boxes and ready to go to the garage. The Christmas boxes will come down from the attic as soon as my sweetheart gets home from a meeting. Then the fun begins – my plan is to do simple decorations this year. Not planning to use everything. Maybe I’ll even move some of my decorations on to other homes! Maybe. Exciting news about the missions giving. I love missions conventions and wish I lived close enough to visit your church to hear what is shared. Blessings to you and your family. ~Adrienne~
nice reading about what you are up to! I just started our xmas decorating and the tree goes up tomorrow evening. We have been dealing with some issues here at home so I feel like I am behind a bit on my baking, cleaning and decorating. Please pray that the Lord would heal my daughter and her class from this bout of head lice that is going around. I had to treat claire for the second time last nite….why in the world I didn’t bring this to the Lord in the first place is beyond me…but…now I am determined that we are gonna see the Lord’s hand in healing this. Sounds weird maybe but even the school nurse is stumped as we all are doing everything properly including washing the entire house! and the rest of us haven’t had to deal with it so we know it is coming from the school! sigh….so…I’ve been doing loads of laundry and treating hair rather than xmas decorating! but God is good….He is giving me Energy!! 🙂
Hello Mrs. C. Enjoyed visiting with you this morning in Blogville! Please blog about the Mission’s conference when you get time. I pray it goes well. I’m thankful your church met it’s goal. Little is much when God is in it…labor not for wealth or fame…. Good old song! It feels a bit funny here in Miss. with all the pretty leaves still on the ground to put up bright Christmas decorations. But, it turned cold a few days ago, so there is a bit of Christmas feeling in the air now! I don’t have any shopping done yet, first get together is tomorrow night…I’ve been under the weather since Thanksgiving. Hopefully tonight, Scot and I will shop for tomorrow night…so far, just taking one event at a time! You are a blessing to me. Enjoy your weekend. When you do decorate, please post pictures! God bless you and yours.
