Today I am thankful for answered prayer when it comes to finances.
This past Christmas while we were vacationing in Florida, one of my girls had to make an impromptu visit to the emergency room. We were seen quickly by a wonderful doctor who assessed the situation and provided the treatment that was needed. We were out of the hospital in less than two hours time, and my girl was on the road to recovery.
A couple of weeks later, the bills started to arrive. There was one from the hospital, one from the attending physician, and another from the lab. Unfortunately, none of these out-of-state charges were covered by insurance. This became a huge matter of prayer because the charges totaled over $4,000. Talk about an expensive two hours!
Over the next few months, I made countless phone calls and sent letters to the various providers. It didn’t take too long before the hospital bill was completely written off. The physican’s billing company offered a slight discount, but I kept writing letters trying to get the bill lowered.
Since I hadn’t received any updates since April, I called again this week to check the status and was informed that there is a ZERO balance on the account. What a HUGE answer to prayer!
I prayed a lot about these bills, but I have to admit that I worried a lot, too. Four thousand dollars might not seem like much money to some people, but we didn’t have that money available. I was prepared to start making small monthly payments, but God took care of it all in spite of my doubt and fear.
I’m reminded of my sin debt. I couldn’t begin to pay for all of my sins, but Jesus marked my sin debt “PAID IN FULL” when he died on the cross. If you are struggling with a burden today, remember that nothing is impossible with God.
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:19
Hi Paula. Returning the blog visit today. So wonderful to hear how God blessed and answered the prayer for the hospital visit for your daughter. That’s so fantastic! What a blessing to see how the Lord can work in things like that. I too am thankful for Christ paying that sin debt for me. Praise the Lord!
Thank you for stopping by, Julia!
Oh I’ve been wondering how you are!! Praise the Lord, for this financial burden lifted!! Wow…..that is a HUGE hospital bill….not to mention ridiculous!! I will never take my health insurance for granted again. I love, how God worked this for you!! Blessings!
Praising God with you for His amazing provision. He is true to His Word and He loves to do good things for His kids. I’ve been learning trust in new ways over the past couple of months. I love the words from the old hymn, ‘Oh, for grace to trust Him more’. Sending happy hugs to you.

P.S. – I’ve not blogged in quite awhile. One of these days I’ll share the journey God has taken me on over recent months and the big answers to prayer we’ve seen.
