The last couple of weeks I’ve been watching the sale ads and stocking up on school and office supplies. The total for everything pictured was just $22.77 after coupons. Several items were only a penny a piece. I will probably pick up a few more boxes of crayons since we never seem to have enough of those with lots of budding artists around the house. 🙂
As a child one of the things I liked the best about the start of a new school year was going shopping for school supplies. I think that I looked forward to picking out a new lunchbox most of all. I still remember the Str*wberry Shortc*ke one with the thermos that always seemed to leak just a little bit. The yellow T*pperware one with the alphabet stencils on it would probably be worth a fortune now, too.
Do you remember your favorite lunchbox?
Good deals!!! I stocked up on the crayons too. I think I bought at least 24 packs, LOL!
I had two lunch boxes. Because I only went to “real” school for two years. I had a Sesame Street lunch box, that was the soft zippered kind. But I outgrew that one by the time first grade rolled around. Then I got a plastic Carebear one. I loved it when my mom put soup in the thermos! 🙂
I was always excited to shop for school items, too. I’m dating myself here, but my lunch box was red plaid. My girlfriend had “The Monkeys”. ;o)

School supplies were definitely the best part of school. It was also the only time I got new clothes unless my grandma bought them.
I have been stocking up on the school supplies also. Crayons are also a hit at my house.
I too had the Strawberry Shortcake lunch box. Because of the leaking thermos Mom replaced it with a generic one. I was not happy! ~Wendi
I’ll date myself with Karen, because my lunchbox was red plaid too! 😉 I thought it was the coolest thing when Mama finally let me carry my lunch in a brown lunch bag instead of a lunchbox.
I’ve always loved school supplies too. I’ll probably pick up a few things when we do our monthly shopping in the US next Monday.
You got a great deal, Mrs. C! I just love new school things and can’t wait to go shopping too!
I loved buying new back-to-school items even as a college student. I have a thing for pens and fresh sheets of paper. 🙂
My favorite lunchbox? I don’t remember any of them….I think I had a Smurf one.
Believe it or not, in the 1970’s when I was growing up in a small village in Central NYS, we walked home for lunch!!
In high school we would walk to McDonalds just about every day (yuck).
My kids have cafeteria accounts so buy the hot lunch program at school. My oldest never brings a lunch anymore. My youngest has an adorable LLBean lunchbag that matches her backpack.
Have fun with your back to school shopping!!

I love the start of school and all the supplies with Yellow Pencils; a pencil box ( do they still have those?) My favorite lunch box was red plaid! ( Im telling my age back in the 60’s) I loved it!
Even though Zach is in high school, he still looks forward to new school supplies. Me too! : )
My favorite lunchbox had Holly Hobbie on it. It was this vinyl/plastic thing with a zippered top, that looked more like a purse than a lunchbox. But I loved it!
New school supplies are so much fun for everyone! I buy my kids lunch boxes every once in a while even though they are home schooled. My Charlotte has a Str*wberry Sh*rtcake and she is 11…some things never die out!!
I had a Midge lunch box…she was Barbie’s best friend in the 60’s!! I think she did die!
I do remember NOT having a lunch box. Us kids at the free hot lunch at school. I really wanted a cute little Holly Hobby or Strawberry Shortcake box with matching thermos.
You know, those little lunch boxes are still so darn CUTE!
Mine was Holly Hobby. Do you remember her? And back then, they allowed us to carry milk in our thermos. They don’t allow that here now. I dunno…my milk was always good. LOL
