This post is part of the weekly Five Minute Friday link-up. This week’s prompt is STAY.
I had to stay away from television news and social media this week. The images on the screen were like something out of a horrible movie.
My heart is grieved over the state of our nation. There are so many things wrong right now, and there are no easy solutions.
What can I do? I can walk after the flesh and respond incorrectly. I can choose to get angry and cast blame. I can choose to be defensive. I can choose to close my eyes and ears. But I am not going to choose to do those things.
Instead, I am choosing to walk after the Spirit and pray. For right now, that is best way for me to make a difference.
I am praying for those who are hurting, for those who are helpless, and for those who are unheard. I am praying for those who are angry, for those who are bitter, and for those experiencing loss. I am praying for our nation?s leaders and those whose voices are the loudest.
Above all else, I am asking God to soften my heart, to give me understanding and wisdom, and to help me to show His love in the midst of the chaos.
Yes, let us pray. All the time. Prayer is the most powerful weapon we have. Thanks for calling us to pray. Peace and blessings to you and yours!
I too am struggling to understands. Such heartbreak. I am standing with you in prayer to. God bless – a fellow fmfer #4
You have made the right choices. #10 FMF
Choosing to lean and listen for the Spirit is always a wise choice. May you find Him faithful. I am with you with the Stay Away. My heart hurts too much and I much too fast to react. May we all Be still and know He is God. Blessings. Thank you for sharing. #FMF
Amen. My heart was broken, and I, too, need to stay away from social media…specifically Facebook where there is currently so much hatred on my feed. It’s sad. I’m praying, and asking God to give me opportunities to speak Truth and Love.
Some find in anarchy a grace,
a golden Holy Grail,
for it’s their aim that this place,
our land, that it should fail.
They want the we in fear should cower
from the bestial roaming thugs;
but up there in their ivory towers,
I think that they must be on drugs,
for we are made of harder things,
steel and fire and stone,
and what our community brings;
we do not stand alone.
We are How The West Was Won;
with the Bible, and the gun.
yes, prayer is always the best option, as it causes us to press into the Lord and see from His perspective.
Joining you in praying … “Above all else, I am asking God to soften my heart, to give me understanding and wisdom, and to help me to show His love in the midst of the chaos.”
Amen!
I’m with you on praying for the hurting and angry people. I’m praying that the Lord would keep my own mouth guarded. I’ve felt Him nudge me to stay off social media other than a post that encourages, or a Scripture….and I’ve limited tv viewing…actually most of our news comes across our phone and we limit the reading of it. I want to show good fruit to the lost. I want to show them the Love that God has for them.
