Last week we made a quick trip down to Florida. One of our elderly relatives passed away, so we went down for the funeral. It only took me about 2 hours to pack for 5 people, which was a new record for me. Most of the time I pack way too much stuff, but this time I only packed what we actually needed for a three day trip. The unpacking was so much easier when we got home because we didn’t have oodles of clothes and shoes to put away.
While in Florida, the kids enjoyed swimming in Mimi’s pool.
We also had fun visiting the grandparents. Here’s Lil’ Nut giving some sugar to Pa Pa.
Grandma made her delicious banana pudding. Our family devoured the whole bowl of pudding in about 10 minutes.
My husband had the honor of preaching the graduation service for the Christian school at our home church. Time is sure flying by; some of these kids were my students when they were in elementary school! Many of the alumni were there, so we visited with some of our “old” friends.
We headed home with three kids instead of four. Mickey Mouse will be spending the next few weeks with his grandparents and NO GIRLS!
Thanks to those of you who were praying for our safety on the roads; the smoke from the Georgia/Florida fires was pretty thick for about 100 miles on the drive home, but praise the Lord we made it through without any accidents or interstate closures. Mr. C was in a hurry to get home, but he still stopped for us to eat at my favorite highway restaurant.
This week I’m playing catch-up around the house and nursing a little cold I picked up somewhere. I also need to file all of our year-end homeschool reports and pack up our school books, but I’m not in a hurry to get everything done. One day at a time! 🙂

I’m sad that y’all had a family member die. But it does sound like you all had a wonderful time visiting family.
We LOVE Cracker Barrell, too!! One day we’ll have to plan a trip to meet y’all at the one near you!!
I loved looking at your family photos. Welcome back.
Welcome home! I popped in to look at your blog so I could tell my in-laws about you (I think you had asked about them in a comment on my blog) and I was going to e-mail you – but you were out of town! LOL Sorry you had to go for such a sad reason, but it looks like you enjoyed some time with family and friends, and that’s always nice.
I am sorry to hear of the death in your family but glad you got to have some fun and family time as well.
Hope you feel better from your cold soon.
So glad you had a safe trip there and back. I’m also a BIG fan of Cracker Barrels.
I’m sorry to hear about the death in your family, Mrs. C.
I’ve learned over the years to pack light. It makes many things so much easier!
It looks like you all had great family time.

Glad you had a safe trip, and you all look like you had a lot of fun!
My mom said Mr. C did a wonderful job on the graduation sermon! That’s pretty high praise, considering who she’s comparing him to!!!!:-)
I’m sorry to hear you lost loved ones. But am glad to hear y’all made it home safely and enjoyed your visit, too, while you were there.
Sorry to hear of the loss of your family member. Glad you were able to go down for the funeral.
How special for your son to get to spend some time with his grands. (and no girls! lol) My kiddos love their special time with their grands each summer.
Glad you had a safe trip.
Sorry to hear about your loss. I’m glad you were able to make it to the funeral.
I love Cracher Barrel too…I adore their meat loaf, pot roast, and Chicken fried steak. MMM!
So sorry for your loss. Looks like you enjoyed time with your family.
I’m sure you must be missing your little fella ~ he and his sis are such dolls in the WW picture. But what a fun time for him to get his very own vacation! :o)
Good to see you back!
That banana pudding looks awesome. Do you share the recipe? And by the way, my favorite highway restaurant is the same as yours. I love their tea!
