Yesterday my dear mother-in-law and I took a trip to the quaint community of Madison, Georgia. Madison is affectionately nicknamed “The Town Sherman Refused to Burn” and was recognized as the “#1 small town in America” just a few years ago. Madison has over 100 pre-Civil War and Victorian homes. I felt like I had gone back in time. It is the most captivating town I have ever visited!
The historical integrity of the town has been wonderfully maintained. Some of the shoppes carry artwork and crafts made by local artisans. Many of the downtown buildings have been restored and now host a multitude of charming shoppes and eateries.
We spent the morning perusing the stores and walking the tree-lines streets. My favorite part of the day was when we drove down some of the side streets and discovered these breathtaking Southern homes. I am planning on going back in December to take the Christmas tour of these historic homes. You can read more about Madison here.
