One of the joys of being a teacher is having mini-vacations throughout the school year. I am thoroughly enjoying my time off this week! Since we don’t have family coming for Thanksgiving this year, I wanted to spend some time this week getting things done around the house. There are several areas that need attention, and I have put off dealing with them. However, this week I have no excuses to keep me from being productive.
What I’ve Done So Far
Monday was spent running errands. Bryn and I were out the door right after breakfast and didn’t get home until after dark.
Tuesday I tackled a project that I had been putting off for months: decluttering the master bathroom. What I thought might take a couple of hours ended up taking all day. I had to fight discouragement and force myself to keep at it.
I am definitely a hoarder of hair and beauty products. When we stay at a hotel, I usually grab the unused travel-size shampoos, soaps, and lotions for the girls to use when they travel for school outings or for summer camp. I had two gallon-sized plastic bags full of them!
Those cute little makeup samples from Ulta were also taking up a lot of room, so I went through those, gave the girls the ones they wanted, and threw out the rest.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any drawers in my bathroom. Storing makeup on the bathroom counter always turns into a disorganized mess. I tried repurposing various containers I had lying around the house. None of them solved the problem, so I decided to order this makeup organizer. I think it will take up some vertical space and help keep the countertop clear.
By the end of the day, I had filled a huge garbage bag with things that I don’t need taking up space in my bathroom. What a great feeling!

What I Still Need To Do
Although it feels great to have the master bathroom decluttered, there is one more area I still need to clean this week: the kitchen pantry.
Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and I need to start cooking today, I think I will procrastinate on this one a little longer.
It’s so good to see you here and get a peek at your projects. I need you to come help me reorganize my bathroom! Think of the fun we could have.

I actually would enjoy that, Adrienne! 🙂
