In our previous homes I had a Victorian decorating theme in my formal living room. My couches were ivory and mauve, the picture frames and mirrors were ornate, flowers were everywhere, and I had marble-top Louis XV tables. (Yes, it was elegant and, yes, I know you would love to see pictures!)
Our current home has a more “earthy” feel to it and is definitely kid-friendly. I no longer have a formal living room, and I sold all of my Victorian furniture when we moved. Yes, quite a sad situation. I did, however, manage to hang on to a few decorative items. Most are tucked away in the attic, but I was able to display a few things without losing the woodsy feel of our current home.
One of my favorites is the picture below titled “The Greatest Moments in a Girl’s Life.” It now resides on the wall in my entry. It was a gift from my mother-in-law when Mr. C and I bought our first home (actually a condo) right after we got married. I plan on keeping it forever!
The captions below each vignette are impossible to see on good ‘ole blogger, but they read as follows:
“The First Evening in their Own Home”
“Their New Love”
Oh neat! Is it a Norman Rockwell painting?
I really like that picture! It is so wholesome and pretty. (o:
I was wonder the same as Tammy:) Very cool! Feeling a little sad about your losing your victorian funiture but I think that your new house is absolutly beautiful from your pics.

I love the picture you posted, and I agree, it’s a forever keeper.
Sad as I’m sure it was to sell your lovely victorian things, I want to say “good for you” for realizing that your new home wasn’t right for such things and for making your new home a lovely place for your family. I must confess that I did not realize this myself when we moved to our lovely home here in the country several years ago, and I wasted a few years trying to make my old home fit into my new one. Your home is very elegant and pretty!

These are Harrison Fisher prints…Very nice! I have some of his work on my blog.
I saw these same prints in an antique store and fell in love with them! Needless to say, I didn’t buy them, because they were very expensive in the antique shop, but maybe I can buy them someday. They’re beautiful!

I am really enjoying the style of my current home. Mr. C definitely likes it better, so that’s all I need!
Thanks for the artist info. I will have to visit your blog to see some more of his work.
