I’m linking up with Susanne to share some of my favorite moments from this week. This is a good exercise for me when I need to slow down and reflect on the good things in my life. Feel free to join in and share your good things, too.
1. My firstborn is home again! Shay arrived home on Sunday afternoon after spending 3 1/2 weeks in Florida. She had a good return flight and is now a pro at packing her bags and avoiding a TSA agent confiscating her full-size beauty products. She learned that lesson the hard way on her first flight. This picture of her and her lovely grandmas was taken at the airport in Florida when they dropped her off.
2. The teens from our church spent this week at camp. I was there for the first couple of days, and I was so impressed with how well our teen leader organized the sessions and activities. There was a great spirit among the teens, and I could tell that the adult volunteers truly enjoyed being there. I could write a whole post just on the delicious food prepared by Nan and Grampster; it definitely wasn’t your typical camp fare. Most importantly, at least one young lady trusted Christ as her Saviour, and many others made decisions for the Lord.
3. Case has a new hobby. He’s taken over the lawn care without being asked. He even had me take him to the hardware store to purchase new protective goggles and earplugs. I’m thankful for his hard-working spirit.
4. A kind man from our church gave us a hummingbird feeder. The girls had been begging me for one for several weeks. We’ve got it hanging on the back porch. Now I just have to figure our how to get a good picture of the hummingbirds.
5. We have deer in our yard every day. We love watching this mama and her baby. The newness of being surrounded by wildlife hasn’t worn off yet.
Oooo…lovely pics – all of them!
Mrs Lynda puts up some amazing hummingbird pics on FB. You’ll have to email her for some pointers. ๐
I love the shots of your property. So pretty!
I will definitely have to get her advice! ๐
How neat to have the deer and fawn coming by regularly! We just recently put up a hummingbird feeder for the first time and have a couple of regular visitor, but it’s hard to get pictures – they fly away when they see or even sense us coming near the window.
I’m glad for the camp, especially for a dear one accepting Christ as Savior.
Isn’t it lovely when teens take initiative for things like mowing? Glad your daughter got home safely, too.
Wow–look at those deer! Camp sounds like a great time. I always loved it myself, and so did my boys. What a sweet spirit your son has. I know you’re glad to get your daughter back home. Just not the same when they’re out of the nest. Hope you have a great week ahead!
oh how i LOVE deer…we see them often in the fields near us…and yay for hummingbirds! they are fun to watch. That’s great that your daughter made it back safely. My youngest (15) is away at our youth group camp in the Berkshires….she has been away for a week and comes home tomorrow! I can’t wait to find out all about it…last year we saw good spiritual growth in her. Great list of faves…have an awesome weekend.
Love reading your posts, and I’ve been sharing them on Facebook with our church friends. So proud to have such a sweet woman of God at Victory Baptist Church. Thanks for your kind words about and during camp… you’re a blessing! Love ya! – Shari
So nice to get those kids back home again. Your backyard sounds like a busy place! And well-groomed to boot. Your son sounds like a fine young man.
You live in a lovely spot!! We see deer on occasion in the winter where we are right in the middle of the city. They come up from the river valley and happily munch on everyones cedar bushes. How exciting that your church runs a teen camp!
You have a lovely spot to live–hummingbirds and deer. I have them too–but the deer aren’t my friends when they eat my garden. ๐
What a blessing that mower man is! Maybe he can expand his interest into a money making venture.
Those deer are so sweet!! How wonderful to have them right in your yard!! What a blessing to have someone mowing the lawn for you. My husband doesn’t like to mow so he pays a teenager to do it since his son is in college. I want to get a hummingbird feeder, seems everyone has one!!
There you are! I’ve missed you!! Sounds like you’re very busy these days, and I’m loving seeing your beautiful new home. Glad everything is going well, and your sweet girl is back home. How wonderful that your young man is taking charge of things on his own. Good job!
I loved reading your list of favs – especially about the youth camp. I enjoy visiting you and seeing a bit of your ‘new’ life.
