I’ve had a good week, in spite of being a bit under the weather with a head cold. Some things I’m thankful for…
1. A girls’ night out. The girls and I enjoyed watching the Imperial Symphony Orchestra perform. The guest pianist was a 19-year-old Julliard student and the son of a man who has judged some of the girls’ piano competitions. This event has been on the calendar for a few months, but I didn’t get advanced tickets because I wasn’t sure whether or not we’d be able to go. Thankfully, the concert wasn’t sold out. Students received free admission, so I was the only one who needed a ticket. I asked for the least expensive seat, which ended up being on the very front row in front of the stage. It wasn’t the best view of the orchestra, but we were right up close to watch the pianist’s hands as they flew across the keys playing Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 16. We had so much fun! 2. Giving my voice on election day. It’s good to know that my vote counted, even if the national election didn’t turn out to my liking. Thankfully, no matter what, God is still in control.
3. Good friends who are good encouragers. I received some uplifting emails and texts this week from a couple of my friends just when I needed a little pick-me-up.
I’m glad to hear about your favorites this week. How fun that you got to have a girls’ night, too! :o) I was feeling a bit down about the election results, as well, but the sermon our pastor preached on Wednesday night was a great help to me — as you mentioned, God is still on the throne and very much in control (even when we don’t understand what’s happening). what a great list of faves! my husband, claire and I had the “cheap” tickets once to the albany symphony orchestra…not the greatest seats being soooo close BUT we did get to watch the 15 yr old’s hands while he played violin superbly! Glad you enjoyed the concert. I’m with ya on #2 for sure and i also had friends this week who reached out just when I needed it. I don’t care for HOT apple cider (just cold) but i sure do love peace and quiet 🙂 Have a happy weekend and hope your cold goes away soon!

I LOVE hot apple cider! And one of my faves this week was exercising my right to vote, too. It was great.

Peace and quiet. . . so simple, but definitely a blessing!

Hurray for peace and quiet. That is one blessing of being an empty nester. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed having my kiddos around. And now I enjoy being able to control when I have peace and quiet. 🙂
We’ll definitely be breaking out the hot drinks, including apple cider, today. It’s -24*C (-11.2*F). Brrr.
Peace and quiet. Yes, I definitely would list that as a favorite blessing.
