When it comes to spending quality time together, Mr. C and I have learned to get creative since we don’t have a babysitter. We’ve also learned to appreciate really simple things. Last night after the children were asleep I fixed us some chocolate covered strawberries. We pigged out together while watching Mansfield Park.
Alone time with my hubby, chocolate, and a Jane Austen movie…just what I needed!
I would love to hear your date-night-at-home ideas, but please keep them G-rated since this is a family friendly blog. Comments are open!:)

Love our date nites!
We DO have a sitter: our 14 yr old daughter. before that: various Christian teens from church. We are blessed in that way…always believed in having evenings out to recharge and allow the girls to get used to others….but….our fave date nite at home (especially in winter) is: Bittersweet Chocolate-Walnut Puff Pastry Roll with hot mugs of decaf, the movie Casablanca or another 1940’s romantic flick OR same dessert/playing Cribbage or Scrabble! Simple but fun.
Our at-home date nights consist of several things….board games and snacks, movies, playing the Wii, and in the summer sitting on our deck just talking.
I can definitely relate to this post! Before Justin was old enough to babysit his siblings, Bruce and I would be creative also.
I remember one night we wanted to go to a steak restaurant. So when the children went to bed, I did a blooming onion, motzerella sticks, and bread sticks for appetizers. We had soft music playing and I did steak and loaded baked potatoes with steamed broccoli and yeast rolls.
We’ve had many nights like that!
