Do you ever have one of those days? Well, I’ve had several of those days lately. In an effort to ward off my own grouchiness after a long morning of school lessons, I thought that our family should take advantage of the beautiful fall weather and have an afternoon of fun. Mr. C took the afternoon off and was able to join us.
Unfortunately, we don’t have much in the way of playgrounds in our rural area. After doing a bit of online research, we drove a little over an hour away to the most amazing park. In fact, it’s the largest volunteer-built park in the state of Georgia.
As the afternoon slipped away and we loaded the kids up to head home, I realized how relaxed I felt. It was such a wonderful feeling after having several days of a less-than-meek-and-quiet spirit. Instead of allowing myself to get worked up over situations that I cannot control, I need to simply trust the Lord and allow His peace to fill me. I am so blessed to have healthy children who can run and play, and God has given me a wonderful, Godly husband who loves spending time with his family. What more could I possibly ask for?
I don’t find my role as a wife and mother the least bit boring, but once in a while I do experience a bit of burnout. When I feel that frustration creeping in, I reflect on moments like the ones we shared today as a family.
The next time you feel like the walls are closing in on you, make some memories with those you love. I think you’ll find that the gloom will quickly disappear.
and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10
Great post! It is so true that we can suffer with a little burn-out from time to time.
I’m so glad you enjoyed your refreshing day!
Blessings!
Burn out happens–that’s for sure! But I loved the way you handled it, by getting away for a bit and reflecting on the Lord’s blessings.
Glad you had a good day after all! : )
We all have days like that from time to time. I’m glad you were able to get away and let the kiddos run and just relax a bit!
What a great day you all had! Very nice!
I find that when I experience “burn out” it is usually due to physical exhaustion. A day of relaxing and fun was probably exactly what your mind AND body needed.:-)
Thank the Lord for His wisdom in these matter.

Yes, I think it was exactly what we all needed! 🙂

Great post and wonderful reminder of how blessed we are!
I’m so glad that the Lord refreshed your spirit in a special way the other day. He is good at that, isn’t He?
God is good! And boy, all moms, even ones with their kids in school, get burn out from time to time! so glad you enjoyed your day…what a great playground. Looks like one we have that is rather new and built by volunteers at our towne park. Kids of all ages love it!
I know the feeling of getting burned out and we as a family TRY to make the most of our Saturdays unless there are other plans we can’t avoid. Looks like you all had a blast! Glad you were able to relax a bit and get re-energized for the rest of the week.
I have many *days* that are burned out. 🙂
What a nice park. We have one a little like that near by, but I have only been once.
Looks like the kids enjoyed playing with their daddy. What a treat for him to take the day off. 🙂
A change of scenery is often the ticket for a tired spirit. I am so glad your family reconnected and gave your heart a chance to soar again. Now you’ll be ready to get back to work. God is so good. And that park is amazing.
Thanks for the reminder; I’ve been dealing with some burn-out feelings the past few weeks (and I’ve only been a wife for 2 1/2 years, and a mom for 8 mos!) though my husband does his best to help me get past it. I just wish I could remember to be content in everything; ah, well… someday we will be glorified and not struggle with these problems! Thanks for sharing this reminder with us, Mrs. C! 🙂
This looks like a kids dream! My word what a park!
Wow!–There must be something in the air because I’ve been feeling a bit…^ahem^…..grumpy this week. (o;
Thank you for this post.–It helped. (o:
