1. What is one area of your life where you’re a perfectionist? Is that a good thing?
I am super picky about how the dishwasher gets loaded. There is a method to the madness. If everything is going to fit, the machine must be loaded correctly. I’ve been known to take all of the dirty dishes out and reload them the right way. It’s not necessarily the best obsession to have. Instead of being grateful that my family helps with the loading, I sometimes fuss at them for not doing it the “right” way.
2. What’s something you find perfectly ridiculous?
The childish behavior displayed by adults when life doesn’t go their way is perfectly ridiculous.
3. What’s a skill you’ve developed by way of that old fashioned saying, ‘practice makes perfect’?
I don?t think that I do anything perfectly, but over the years I?ve sharpened my formal writing skills through a lot of practice. When I was an elementary school principal, I had a tremendous amount of correspondence to deal with on a daily basis. Often I had to handle problems or situations via email or letter. I learned how to concisely, yet politely, address the issue at hand. I would read and re-read what I had written to ensure that it wouldn?t come back to haunt me.
4. What’s your idea of a perfect breakfast?
My dream breakfast would include a hot cup of coffee with creamer, a small vegetable omelette, a couple of pieces of stuffed French toast, and a bowl of pink grapefruit sections. Having someone else do the cooking and cleaning up would make it a perfect meal.
5. What’s a trip, holiday, vacation, or day outing you’ve taken that you’d rate a perfect 10? Tell us why.
Steven and I took a trip to Savannah, Georgia, a few years ago to celebrate our anniversary. Savannah is such a romantic city! We stayed in a classy hotel, ate at very fancy restaurants, took a sight-seeing tour, and did some shopping. We enjoyed every moment of our time together. I have many great memories from that trip. It was perfect.
6. What quote or saying perfectly sums up your life right now? If you can’t do perfect, how about one that comes close?
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
I?ve been meditating on this Bible verse from Joshua 26:3 on a daily basis recently. When I focus on my circumstances, I feel anxious and filled with worry and doubt. When I keep my mind centered on God?s goodness and greatness, my mind is at peace.
7. How would you spend $300 today?
In a perfect world, I would definitely buy some cute spring shoes instead of paying bills.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I am super excited about an upcoming trip I’ll be taking with my oldest daughter. We’re traveling to a place I’ve never been before. I’ll share details when we return!
How exciting! I hope that you and your daughter have a great time on your trip. ๐
Wow! I bet $300 would buy lots of cute shoes. One of our girls is a shoe-a-holic. Me, well, I am a bag-o-holic. The best way to get me to join or buy something is to offer a tote bag with it. haha
That verse (Joshua 26:3) is a great one. Thanks for the reminder.
Have a beautiful day!
I have a handbag collection as well, Suzanne. I can stretch $300, but I could also buy just one bag or pair of shoes with it. ?
Wow, to be so brave! I can’t even spend $50 on a pair of boots for myself without guilt, even though we got them so that the snakes wouldn’t chew off my toes while I was photographing the flowers. ๐
I enjoyed all of your answers, but #3 really resonated with me. I am the same way with correspondence and I will read and re-read emails before I hit that send button, just to be sure I’ve said nothing that could be taken the wrong way. And your quote for #6 — Isaiah 26:3 is one of my favorite verses also. I’ve seen it proved true over and over.
Thanks for your visit to my blog … please come and visit anytime! Happy Wednesday!
I re-read emails also but invariably I catch the typos other people make yet miss my own. ?
If you enjoyed Savannah, you should visit us in Charleston! ๐ I’ve got to go back and edit my perfect breakfast. I should have put mine as my daily breakfast with my granddaughter. Silly me. ๐ Have a wonderful day!
My mom and I made a short visit to Charleston when I was a teenager. I don’t remember a whole lot about it other than the fact that we toured a battleship that was docked there as a museum. I would like to go back again.
I’ve been to Savannah several times and I love that city! So much history and beauty!
I would love to visit there again to learn more about its history; one long weekend didn’t scratch the surface.
The upcoming trip with your daughter DOES sound exciting! I’ll love hearing about it and seeing photos. I’ve never been to Savannah, but would love to visit there. And Charleston. And I’m the same way about the dish washer, although it’s about how much stuff can go in. Others think it’s full but I have a well-honed technique and can cram a ton more into that thing before starting it. And they all get clean! It’s ‘practice makes perfect.’ LOL And I want to wash off my own kitchen counters.
I’ve got my camera charging now; hopefully I will remember to pack it in the car!
Hi Paula! Thanks for visiting my Hodgepodge today! Nice to meet you!! Joe and I spent a few days in Savannah and enjoyed it very much. We visited with our niece, who was attending SCAD at the time, so got to see some of the school too.
SCAD has definitely added a whole new generation of history to the city.
There are adults out there who don’t know how to act. Some parents get upset with teachers when their child does not get a high grade. I have seen this in colleges several times over. My thought is, do the work the best you can and accept the grade you get. Very often I have seen adult students turn in bad work and expect an A.
I agree with you.
Hope you have a wonderful trip with your daughter! That will be a nice memory-making experience. I have a certain way I like the dishwasher loaded too. Happy to read I’m not the only one who re-arranges things that others put in the dishwasher.
Paula, it is ringing true with me, as well. I am always rearranging my dirty dishes. I prefer all the utensils facing down, but some in my family stick them up. I learned that the hard way when putting forks in and ran a sharp knife tip up the inside of my nail. You can be sure the offender heard about that. ๐ Enjoy your upcoming trip! We’re leaving on one this week to a place you’re very familiar with. FLORIDA! Hugs to you, and enjoy your day!
