Little Sallie Mandy and Tommy Whiskers is a delightful story about a little girl and her precocious cat who can’t resist the temptation of seeing some new little birds up in a nest. Tommy Whiskers learned a hard lesson when he was attacked by the momma bird. I remember looking at the colorful pictures over and over again when I was a little girl and making up stories of my own.
A Pint of Judgment is a Christmas story set in the late 19th century. The pictures are black and white sketches, but the family in the story seemed so real to me.
Today for Kelli’s Show and Tell I wanted to share a couple of my favorite books from my childhood. I came across these recently at my mom’s house. I had wondered what had happended to them and was thrilled to walk down memory lane as I flipped through them. Both of the books are very old, and you can tell by looking at their covers that I got a lot of enjoyment out of them. 🙂
Books are like old friends and it is always special to rediscover them. Thank you for sharing.
I jost love books, and especially the old ones. These are two very nice ones. Thanks for sharing.
Susan

What great books. I love the illustrations!
You can’t have enough old friends AND old books!! To me there is something so cozy and comforting about revisiting a favorite friend(book;o) over and over again. I think the illustrations in the book are just darling and I can certainly see why you loved it so. A true sign of a good book is when you actually believe the characters are real!!
I love to see things from when I was little. A favorite book would be like an old friend.
Wonderful treasures, Mrs. C! I love old books and yours are beautiful. The illustrations are so sweet!!
Have a great weekend!
Kelli
Sweet treasures and memories! I wish I could find some of the books I remember from my childhood that I loved so much. I do have one book, a collection of stories and poems, that belonged to my mother when she was a little girl, that I also love to look through and read the stories again.
Wow! What beautiful illustrations and covers those books have! What special things to have for your children!
What treasures from your childhood to share with your own children. Those illustrations are just delightful

How neat it would be to come across childhood treasures like that! Wonderful!
Oh, I just love old books like this ~ and these made all the more special because of the precious memories from your own childhood.
Oh, how wonderful that you still have these childhood books!
I remember a visit to a book store some years ago, just before Christmas. I found one of the books over there that I had LOVED when I was a little child! And when I saw it, I had immediatly tears in my eyes because it brought back sooo many memories! And of course, I had to buy it – as a wonderful Christmas gift for myself.
Best wishes from Germany,
Anita
